Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt—reasons for interest in building history and methods of research—but the development is superficial. While you mention reasons like safety and fraud prevention, these points are not fully explained or supported with clear logic. The research methods section is also underdeveloped, relying on vague suggestions like 'google search' or 'survey of the areas'. The example regarding Vadodara is relevant but lacks clarity in its connection to the prompt. To improve, you should provide more detailed explanations for each point and ensure your examples directly illustrate the research process rather than just describing the city's construction.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the overall structure. However, the logical progression of ideas is often hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of clear cohesive devices. Transitions like 'on the one hand' and 'on the other hand' are used, but they do not always introduce balanced or contrasting arguments effectively. Some sentences are disjointed, and the connection between the introduction and the body paragraphs is weak. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly relates to the prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'house', 'building', and 'history'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'there became fraud cases' instead of 'there may be cases of fraud' and 'constructed sustainability' instead of 'constructed sustainably'. Some phrases are unnatural, which occasionally makes the meaning difficult to follow. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to architecture, historical research, and property documentation, and work on using collocations more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people collects'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'they should aware'), and misuse of articles and prepositions. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as the run-on sentence in the final paragraph. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of modal verbs before attempting more complex structures.
