IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.

What are the reasons for this?

How can people research this?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays in some nations, many people are takking interest in the history of the house or an apartment they live in is becoming increasingly common. This essay will discuss the reasons behind this and what method people use to do research on this history.

One major reason is that people have a curiosity for constructions of buildings when and where it built. This means that people may want to know when the house was built and how it was designed or changed over the years. For example, In India many houses have historical values and connections, therefore people wants to discover that how it was constructed in the past, what materials were used to build it and what changed in recent time. Another important reason is that people may be interested in the history of a building because old properties can have significant historical value and may be considered unique, which can increase their market value.

Another important ascpect is that people can use official records and contact previous owners to obtain detailed information about the history of the building. In other words person who is interested in the history of the house where they live try to find documents of the property in which date of constructions mentioned, when it was constructed and what changed in the originality and who was the owner who build that specific house. For Instance, One famous Irish youtuber found that his building where he live currently was the famous cafe in whole Ireland in the past, however due to some nature disaster it was burned into fire and after that it was build again to an apartment therefore he started research on his building by collections sources and contacting people who lived there before.

In conclusion, although people are becoming interested in finding about the history of the accomodation they live in is becoming increasingly common due to curiosity people have in their mind , it can have significant effects on individuals and society. From my persepective people use method like collecting data of the constructions and the time when it was constructed to research on this.
