Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, but the development of ideas is very limited and often unclear. For instance, the explanation regarding 'technology and artificial intelligence' as a reason for researching house history is vague and lacks logical connection to the topic. Similarly, the suggestion to visit a police station to find the history of a house is illogical and lacks supporting evidence or real-world relevance. The ideas are under-developed, and the response fails to provide a clear, coherent argument, resulting in a superficial treatment of the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To commence with', 'To recapitulate'), they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. Referencing is frequently unclear, such as the phrase 'To explication that New house they investigate about the house', which makes the logical flow difficult to follow. The connection between sentences is often disjointed, and the lack of clear topic sentences makes it hard for the reader to track the development of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic or misused terms. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'rationales for this that people find historyof their house' and 'Equitably, it makes easier'. The student struggles to use precise language to describe the topic, often resorting to awkward phrasing that occasionally impedes communication. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, and there are several spelling errors, such as 'explication' instead of 'explain' and 'historyof'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement ('History give opportunity'), article usage ('a the past'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or poorly constructed, such as 'To explication that New house they investigate about the house so that why they do did not get problems in future.' While there is an attempt at complex structures, they are almost always inaccurate, leading to confusion. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods throughout the text.
