Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, but the development is quite superficial. While you mention reasons like media influence and social media, these points are not fully explored or supported with depth. The second part of the question, regarding how people research building history, is answered very briefly with vague references to 'agencies' and 'Google,' lacking specific detail or logical explanation. The essay tends to over-generalize, and the focus shifts toward 'haunted houses' rather than the broader concept of historical research into buildings, which limits the relevance of your arguments. To improve, ensure each point is supported by a clear explanation or a concrete example.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'also' and 'there are.' Some sentences are poorly linked, making the flow of the argument feel fragmented. For instance, the transition between the reasons for interest and the methods of research is abrupt. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical flow, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to convey ideas with precision. You rely on basic terms like 'mystery,' 'people,' and 'things.' There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'real based story' instead of 'based on a true story' and 'person will do contact' instead of 'individuals can contact.' The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic in an academic manner, and the errors occasionally make the intended meaning slightly unclear.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there was a several reason'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, which makes them difficult to parse. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty or incorrectly punctuated. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that your sentences are grammatically complete.
