Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest in building history and methods for researching it. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of 'ancient sculptures' is a bit vague in the context of residential housing. The ideas are relevant but lack depth and specific examples. The conclusion is also quite repetitive and does not add value to the argument. To improve, you should expand on your points with more concrete examples, such as mentioning local archives, property deeds, or historical societies, rather than just general references to 'books' or 'older community'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'To sum up'. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'All the aspects would be discussed in the following paragraphs'. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear; for example, in the final sentence, 'they used it' is grammatically disconnected from the preceding clause. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents would strengthen the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'spacious work', 'hard work', and 'point down', which are not idiomatic or accurate in this context. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'house story' instead of 'history of a house'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary related to architecture, heritage, and historical research, and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate. Avoid repetitive phrasing and try to incorporate more academic collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'numerous countries people are interested to research', 'individuals’ are eager', and 'they know each information'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction, correct pluralisation, and the proper use of articles will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
