Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for interest in building history and methods of research. However, the development is quite limited. The reasons provided—ancestral connection and safety concerns—are relevant but lack depth and specific examples. The explanation of research methods is also brief, mentioning only 'search engines' and 'house agents'. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand on your ideas with more detailed explanations and concrete examples. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and does not effectively summarize the main points of the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the structure is somewhat mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is basic, such as 'Firstly' and 'Furthermore'. There are issues with logical progression; for instance, the introduction mentions that the essay will provide reasons and methods, but the body paragraphs are not clearly delineated by these two distinct topics. Additionally, some sentences are disjointed, such as 'In conclusion, I my pen down saying that...', which is an unnatural and confusing way to transition into a summary.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'finding out about' and 'living accommodation'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'median' (likely meant 'medium' or 'source') and 'my pen down'. To improve, focus on using more academic vocabulary and precise collocations related to architecture, history, and real estate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('accommodation they lives'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction ('if it is old and they are not living by giving rent'). The range of sentence structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple or slightly complex sentences with errors in punctuation and tense. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and article usage.
