Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you identify reasons such as community belonging and geological safety, the explanation of 'how' people research this is vague. You mention 'geological backgrounds are constantly being reviewed' but fail to explain the practical methods, such as consulting public archives, local libraries, or online property databases. The ideas are somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the focus on geological aspects, which seems to drift away from the historical focus of the prompt. To improve, ensure each paragraph directly answers the specific question asked and provides concrete examples of the research process.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or slightly unnatural. For example, 'As a result of this' and 'Moreover' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, such as in the second paragraph where the transition to 'home migration' feels abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'the location about these places are significantly being reviewed', where the subject-verb agreement and the connection to the previous paragraph are weak. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'geological place' instead of 'geographical location', and 'wise choose' instead of 'make a wise choice'. The phrase 'territories where the soil has been grounded effectively' is unclear and does not accurately convey the intended meaning regarding property research. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that collocations are natural. Avoid repeating basic terms like 'place' and 'important' throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('the location... are', 'most of people are'), incorrect preposition usage ('involving into', 'about the place they called home'), and awkward phrasing ('might help to new families to wise choose'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb forms and prepositions, to ensure your complex sentences are constructed correctly.
