Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest in building history and methods for research. However, the development of these ideas is limited. The reasons provided, such as 'gaining respect in a community' or 'feeling proud', are somewhat superficial and lack depth. The methods for research are mentioned but are listed in a repetitive manner without sufficient elaboration or concrete examples of how these sources are actually accessed or used. The essay relies on generalizations rather than providing a well-supported argument. To improve, you should expand on your points with more specific examples and logical explanations to reach a higher band level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between ideas is often abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate (e.g., 'at the end' used to introduce a summary). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the repetition of phrases like 'find out' and 'data' makes the flow feel disjointed. While there is an attempt to use linking words, they are not always used effectively to guide the reader through the argument. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey complex ideas. You frequently use basic terms like 'data', 'find out', and 'things'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'ancient historical person' (redundant) and 'duo to' (spelling error for 'due to'). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of errors in word formation prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on learning synonyms for common words and practicing collocations related to research and history.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. There are consistent issues with article usage (e.g., 'In number of countries'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors in tense and word order, such as 'all these sources gives enough previous data'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and improper comma usage. While the meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of errors indicates a limited control over complex grammatical structures. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be beneficial.
