Student answer (Band 5.5)

In some countries, some people are interested about researching the history of the house or buildings of them. It may happen due to the curiosity for learning the ancient technology and historical heritages. For that, people can use historical books and other appropriate resources.

Regarding the reasons for these researches are mainly based on their interest about their history. All countries have their own technologies and they provide proper foundation for developing new technologies. Because, antient people used different strategies to maintain the longevity and resistant to climate changes. For example , when building palaces, people used bricks for maintaining a cool atmosphere inside the building. It is clear that, they used that method instead of any artificial method.

People can use different resources for searching about them. There are some old books to study about these contexts and people can reach some old people who involved in creating old buildings. Furthermore, people can study about the structures of old buildings carefully and understand the Science behind them. For instance, we can study about some lakes and some old houses in ancient cities and study them for improving our current buildings using cost effective and environment friendly methods.

I believe that this trend is beneficial for learning sustainable and environment friendly options for building new houses in the current society.

In summary, people want to learn about their history for developing their buildings using old technologies and it might help for finding new knowledge that is unique for their country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for interest in building history and methods for research. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention curiosity and the potential for learning sustainable technologies, the explanation remains quite general. For example, the link between 'ancient technology' and 'current buildings' is a good start, but it lacks specific, well-developed examples beyond a brief mention of bricks. To improve, ensure that your arguments are fully extended with more detailed explanations or concrete illustrations. The position is clear, but the overall depth of the response is closer to a Band 5.5 or 6.0 level due to the lack of thorough exploration of the points raised.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Furthermore', 'For instance', and 'In summary', to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'Regarding the reasons for these researches are mainly based on...'. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the connection between the research methods and the reasons for doing so could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would help elevate your score in this area.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'sustainable', 'environment friendly', and 'longevity'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'interested about' (should be 'interested in') and 'antient' (spelling error). You also repeat certain words, like 'buildings' and 'methods', which limits the range of your vocabulary. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and collocations, and pay closer attention to spelling and standard preposition usage to avoid minor inaccuracies that slightly distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the history of the house or buildings of them' and 'people who involved in creating'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement before 'for example'. These errors do not generally impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately. Reviewing basic sentence patterns will help you produce more error-free sentences.
