Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 104 words. Consequently, the task is addressed only partially. The essay lacks a clear structure, failing to fully develop the reasons for the interest in historical buildings or provide a coherent explanation of how research can be conducted. The ideas presented are fragmented and repetitive, and the response ends abruptly mid-sentence. To improve, you must ensure you address both parts of the prompt with sufficient detail and examples, and maintain a consistent focus throughout the essay to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks logical progression and coherent paragraphing. There is no clear introduction, body, or conclusion. The use of cohesive devices is almost entirely absent, making the text difficult to follow. Phrases like 'starting with the' are used, but they do not lead to a structured argument. The lack of sentence boundaries and the incomplete nature of the text significantly hinder the flow of information. To improve, you should focus on using clear topic sentences for each paragraph and linking your ideas with appropriate transition words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition'.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'intertest' instead of 'interested' and 'contraction' instead of 'construction'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas about historical research. Many words are used incorrectly, which impedes the reader's understanding of your intended meaning. To improve, you should focus on learning collocations related to history and research, and practice using a wider variety of descriptive adjectives and nouns to express your points more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple, fragmented, or poorly constructed sentences. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure. For example, 'many countries , and many individuals become intertest' contains multiple errors. The punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces and missing full stops. To improve, you must focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions.
