Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student addresses the task by discussing reasons why people are interested in the history of their homes and methods to research this history. However, the response lacks clarity and coherence, which makes it difficult to follow the main ideas. For example, phrases such as "in today world many peoples are like this old history" are confusing. While the writer attempts to present arguments, they do not develop their ideas sufficiently or provide clear examples, resulting in an unclear conclusion about the benefits of this interest. Overall, the response partially meets the task requirements but fails to fully explain the reasons and methods for researching house history, limiting the Task Achievement score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The structure of the essay displays an attempt at coherence with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the lack of clear topic sentences and effective transitions between ideas makes it hard to follow. For instance, phrases like "this is because in today world many peoples are like this old history" do not provide clarity. Also, the frequent grammatical errors disrupt the flow of ideas, as seen in "older adults other word family history is very good." The ideas could lead to better cohesion with clearer connections and organization.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The lexical resource is somewhat limited, with numerous spelling errors and inappropriate word choices, such as "resons," "many peoples," and "batter." The use of informal language like "in think" and vague phrases like "many history available" detracts from the overall professionalism of the response. More varied vocabulary related to the topic could enhance the response significantly. Additionally, the language used in examples lacks specificity and clarity, resulting in less effective communication of the student's ideas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response demonstrates a basic range of grammatical structures, yet it is hindered by frequent errors that affect meaning. Issues include incorrect subject-verb agreement ("population of daily one book of history read it"), missing articles, and run-on sentences, shown in sentences like "older house history more benefit for children because they live in better." Though some sentences are correctly formed, the overall grammatical performance does not meet higher band criteria due to these persistent inaccuracies.

Overall feedback

Your essay shows a good attempt to address the question, but there are several areas for improvement to enhance clarity and coherence. To strengthen your response, focus on structuring your ideas more logically by ensuring each paragraph has a clear main idea and supporting details. Improving your vocabulary will also help, so consider using more precise language. Finally, pay attention to grammar and spelling, as these errors can confuse readers. Practicing writing with clearer sentences and varied vocabulary will help you improve overall.
