Student answer (Band 5.5)

Increasing number of people in many countries are now becoming interested in knowing the history of the house or building they reside in, particularly to relive the part and internet has made that much more accessible.

One of the main reasons for the growing interest in the history of houses or buildings among people now is to experience the past cultures and histories more closely. For example, people learn about the struggle of the artists, their sacrifices and culture of that period. As a result, they value the facility more instead of taking the priviledge for granted. Moreover, many people want to be knowledgeable about it so that they can pass it on to the next generation, restoring culture.

Additionally, internet has further increased this interest of knowledge by making these information easily accisable online. For instance, people can search about a destination or a specific house and information regarding that would be available in seconds. Therefore, it make people more curious about learning more. Furthermore, alongside internet, people can research about these from relevant books or secondary sources. For example, many libraries store such research paper or publications. So people can easily research using those too based on their area of interest.

In conclusion, people's interest in experiencing the past histories of their accommodation more closely influenced the increasing attention to this. With easier access to internet and books on histories or secondary research papers, interested people can explore more about it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest and methods of research. However, the development is somewhat limited, and the essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement. While the ideas are relevant, they are not fully extended; for instance, the explanation of 'past cultures' is brief and could benefit from more specific examples. The under-length nature of the response significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the arguments, leading to a score that reflects the partial development of ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'For instance' are used to link sentences and paragraphs. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. The introduction is quite brief and lacks a clear thesis statement that outlines the structure of the essay. Overall, the flow is sufficient to follow the writer's argument, but it lacks the sophisticated management of cohesion required for higher bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are some spelling errors, such as 'priviledge' (privilege) and 'accisable' (accessible). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic terms like 'interested', 'information', and 'research'. While the meaning is clear, the writer does not demonstrate the ability to use less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions effectively. To improve, the writer should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring accurate spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'Increasing number of people' (missing article 'An'), 'internet has made' (missing article 'the'), and 'it make people' (subject-verb agreement error). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. The range of structures is limited, and the control over articles and verb forms needs improvement to achieve a higher band score.
