Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons (financial gain, historical interest) and methods (internet, social media). However, the development is limited. The argument regarding selling homes at a higher price due to famous past residents is somewhat speculative and lacks depth. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the overall task completion. The ideas are presented but remain underdeveloped, preventing a higher score. To improve, you should expand on your examples and ensure your arguments are more logically grounded in reality.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Although, people busy at their workplace' is grammatically incorrect and disrupts the flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between living a 'luxurious life' and researching home history is tenuous. While there is a logical progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional awkward phrasing make the cohesion feel somewhat disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and occasionally imprecise. You use some relevant terms like 'career-oriented' and 'cultural meaning,' but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'well paid payment' (redundant) and 'materialstic information' (incorrect spelling and usage). The phrase 'plathora of buildings' is a good attempt at a less common word, but it is misspelled. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that your word choices are natural and contextually appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include missing articles ('find history the of the building'), incorrect verb forms ('when people found that well known people lived'), and punctuation errors. The sentence 'Although, people busy at their workplace, they find history...' is a fragment and lacks a main verb. These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the clarity of your message. You need to focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of complex sentence structures.
