Student answer (Band 5.0)

In most of countries, it has been seen that the interest of their resedients have been increasing to search out the history of their house or the building in which they are living. I will discuss the fact and figures of that in next paragraphs.

First of all, in todays world history has grat importance in our life. Many reaserchers are trying to find out the living style of homosapiens that exisit thousands of years ago. Similarly the people of todays world are also interested in doing reaserch on histroy. When someone bought a house or lived in a building they search about it that if it had some releation to history. They do so, because they think that if their house is very old they should find something antique releated to history which they can sell to reaserchers at very high cost. Lets take example of my country. I live in pakistan an asian country. It is saperated from india in 1947, so indians left pakistan and went to their country but they left all of their wealth in their houses in pakistan. So our citizens knew that and they bought old houses in search of treasure and most of them sucess in this.

On other hand, resedients do such a things because they want to ensure that their is no scam in that propertie. They dont want to lose their money in scam or they check the history to know that their is no illegal activity happened in that house. To verify that this house is not involved in robery or used as a murder place . In contrast they want to know that if there is need of renovation so they can renovate it.

To sum up all, people should be aware of the place in which they are living it is good for them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for interest in building history and methods for research. However, the development of ideas is limited. The explanation regarding 'treasure hunting' in Pakistan is somewhat anecdotal and lacks a broader perspective on why people research building history, such as architectural interest or heritage preservation. The second part of the prompt, 'How can people research this?', is not explicitly answered; the essay focuses on why people research rather than the methods (e.g., public records, archives, or local libraries). The ideas are present but remain under-developed, and the response lacks a clear, cohesive argument structure.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. While there are some cohesive devices such as 'First of all' and 'On other hand', they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'I will discuss the fact and figures of that in next paragraphs,' which does not accurately reflect the content that follows. Paragraphing is present, but the internal logic within the paragraphs is weak, making the overall flow of the argument difficult to follow at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'resedients' (residents), 'reaserchers' (researchers), 'releation' (relation), 'saperated' (separated), 'sucess' (succeeded), and 'propertie' (property). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader. The range of vocabulary is basic, relying on simple descriptors and lacking the precision required for a higher band. There is little attempt to use less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions, and the word choice is often imprecise, such as using 'scam' to describe potential legal issues with a property.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('interest... have been increasing'), article usage ('in todays world'), and sentence structure ('When someone bought a house or lived in a building they search about it that if it had some releation to history'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and incorrect spacing. While the writer attempts some complex sentence structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. The control over basic grammar is insufficient, and errors are present in almost every sentence, which significantly affects the readability of the response.
