Student answer (Band 5.0)

I believe people in some countries are more concious, so they become interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in. There are many reason to know the history of house. First of all, may be they want to know the legacy of the building and which type of people lived there before them. Secondly, may be they want to now about the neighbourhood and living condition of the building.

There is plenty of sources to get this information. First of all, in contempory world, everyone have smartphone they can search any information in instant. There are serval website which provide the information of buildings. Moreover, people can also get building histroy from the people living in the neighbourhood. For example, when i want to rent any house, I prefer to visit the neighbourhood to get the information about which type of people are living here. Are they warm and kind people? Will the help me if I encounter in any problem in future? Because in our country, ther is a famous saying that "neighbour are your first imediate family."

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, but the development is quite limited. While you identify reasons (legacy, neighbourhood conditions) and methods (internet, local inquiry), the ideas are not fully extended. The repetition of the second paragraph is a significant issue that prevents a more thorough exploration of the topic. To improve, ensure you provide distinct, well-supported arguments for each point rather than repeating content. The response lacks a clear introduction and conclusion, which are essential for a formal essay structure.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay suffers from a major structural flaw: the entire second paragraph is repeated verbatim. This repetition severely disrupts the logical flow and coherence of the text. While there are some basic cohesive devices used, such as 'First of all' and 'Moreover', the overall organization is undermined by the duplication. To achieve a higher band, you must ensure that each paragraph introduces new, unique information and that the essay follows a logical progression from introduction to body paragraphs and a final conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally functional but basic. You use some relevant terms like 'legacy', 'contemporary', and 'neighbourhood', but there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'concious', 'serval', 'histroy', 'imediate'). The range of vocabulary is limited, and the repetition of the same paragraph means the lexical variety is further restricted. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure you proofread your work to eliminate simple spelling mistakes that distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement ('everyone have', 'neighbour are'), article usage, and sentence structure issues ('which type of people', 'encounter in any problem'). While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors across simple and complex sentences prevents a higher score. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions, before attempting more complex structures.
