Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest in building history and methods for research. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the reasons provided (curiosity, pride) are mentioned but not deeply explored. The second paragraph regarding research methods is slightly off-topic, as it focuses on government intervention rather than how individuals can personally conduct research (e.g., visiting libraries, using online databases, or checking land registries). The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which impacts the overall task completion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Also they want to eager find out' and 'Consequently this is really simple'. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of logical flow between sentences. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the abrupt ending of the essay significantly disrupts the coherence of the final section.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. While there is an attempt to use more sophisticated terms like 'edifice', 'domicile', and 'chronicle', these are often used incorrectly or in unnatural collocations (e.g., 'determine people's chronicle'). There are also frequent errors in word choice, such as 'eager find out' instead of 'eagerly find out' and 'habitation past history'. The range is sufficient to convey basic meaning, but the lack of precision and frequent collocation errors limit the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('many people have curiosity', 'the administration have'), incorrect verb forms ('willingness to know', 'types of materials are used that time'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also problematic, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors throughout the text prevents a higher score.
