Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest and methods of research. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention curiosity and property value, the explanations lack depth and specific examples. For instance, the example regarding 'forefathers' is a bit vague, and the point about flood hazards is relevant but could be better articulated. To reach a higher band, ensure that each reason is fully supported with clear, logical consequences. The introduction is also quite brief and could more effectively outline the scope of the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'One major reason', 'Another reason', and 'In conclusion' to signal transitions. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'This can be happen because of'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the use of 'that' in 'investigate that through out'. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help the essay flow more smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several word-choice errors, such as 'resident' instead of 'residence', 'emotion' instead of 'emotional', and 'conducted their' instead of 'conducted there'. You also rely on basic vocabulary, such as 'good attachment' and 'make them more happy'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary. For example, instead of 'investigate', you could use 'conduct historical research' or 'examine archival records'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('unexpected disasters does not effect', 'they does not investigate'), incorrect verb forms ('This can be happen', 'was build'), and article usage. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence structure often feels repetitive. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent verb tense usage throughout your paragraphs. Proofreading for these common errors will significantly improve your score.
