Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest in house history and methods for research. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the reasons provided are limited to 'curiosity' and 'who lived there,' which could be expanded with more depth regarding cultural heritage or architectural significance. While the methods are listed, they are presented in a repetitive, list-like fashion rather than being fully explained or supported with concrete examples. To improve, you should aim to elaborate on your points with specific scenarios or detailed explanations to demonstrate a more thorough engagement with the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often mechanical. You rely heavily on basic cohesive devices like 'Moreover,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In addition,' which makes the flow feel repetitive. Some sentences are disjointed, such as 'The main reason of this residents are curious,' which lacks a clear logical link to the previous sentence. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between ideas could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the one before it.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use basic terms like 'interesting,' 'know,' and 'get knowledge' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'becoming to know' instead of 'becoming interested in' and 'contact to local government' instead of 'contact the local government.' To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to history, architecture, and archival research, and focus on using words in their correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('residents are curious'), incorrect verb forms ('who was live there'), and missing articles or prepositions. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate, such as 'This could be happen that a well-known family was lived there.' The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly verb tenses and the correct use of auxiliary verbs, before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
