Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest and methods for research. However, the development is quite limited. The reasons provided (personal curiosity, emotional attachment) are mentioned but not fully explored or supported with specific examples. Similarly, the research methods are restricted to asking locals, which is a narrow approach. To achieve a higher band, you should expand on your ideas with more depth and provide concrete examples, such as visiting local archives, checking land registries, or using online historical databases. The position is clear, but the overall response lacks the depth required for a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding 'emotional attachment,' which is mentioned in every paragraph. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as the comma splice in 'There are various reasons for this, For instance: personal curosity'. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. There is significant repetition of basic terms like 'place,' 'knowledge,' and 'information.' You also make several spelling errors, such as 'bulidings,' 'curosity,' and 'emitional.' Some phrasing is unnatural, such as 'live in place' instead of 'residence' or 'property.' To improve, focus on using more precise synonyms and ensuring correct spelling of common academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'More the knowledge about the live in place, the emitional attachement gets stronger,' which lacks correct comparative structure. There are frequent errors in articles, word order, and punctuation (e.g., unnecessary capitalization after commas). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, although they do not completely impede communication.
