Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits your ability to develop your ideas. You have identified some reasons for the interest in building history, such as architecture and location, but you have completely failed to address the second part of the prompt: 'How can people research this?'. Because the response is less than half the required length and omits a major part of the task, it cannot be awarded a score higher than Band 4.0. To improve, you must ensure you address every part of the question and expand your points with specific examples and explanations to meet the word count.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response lacks paragraphing and consists of a single, short block of text. There is a lack of logical progression, and the sentences are strung together with minimal cohesive devices. The use of 'They' to refer back to 'individuals' is clear, but the overall structure is fragmented. Because the text is so short, it is difficult to demonstrate a range of cohesive devices. To improve, you should organize your ideas into clear paragraphs—one for reasons and one for research methods—and use linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your thoughts.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'mind blowing' and 'mesmerizing and breathtaking' are informal and somewhat repetitive in context. There is little attempt to use academic or topic-specific vocabulary related to historical research or architecture. The word choice is often imprecise, such as using 'ancient labors' to refer to builders or craftsmen. To improve, you should aim to use more precise, academic vocabulary and avoid colloquial expressions. Expanding your range will allow you to express complex ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The text contains several grammatical errors, particularly regarding sentence structure and punctuation. There is a lack of full stops, leading to run-on sentences, such as the first sentence which is a long, unpunctuated string. You also have errors in subject-verb agreement, such as 'the design... are very unique'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on using correct punctuation to separate your ideas and practice using a mix of simple, compound, and complex sentences to demonstrate grammatical control.
