Student answer (Band 5.0)

In contemporary society, the raising of people interest in the past old building. The reasons may be family attachment , emotion connection and demands of today society.

Firstly, the parents wants to share their moments with children in the past buildings. This is because parent share their childhood experiences with their kids. They used to share the information or idea in the form of songs or proverbs. When they share their attachment how they grown up, their offspring realize the parents and their hard-work. Old monuments might be collection of their memories and struggle. For instances my grand father show me the uses of light lamp when the electricity is not able. Similarly my grand mother uses the stones for grinding the ingredients.

On the other hand, todays generation shares the more moments and expenses in the old culture. Most of the business are rebuild in the following past buildings. For instances the homestay are more popular in the pre-urban areas rather then stars hotels. Youths are more keen to old traditional building. These building are the sites of entertainment, relax, education purpose etc. Different country globally preserve their historical sites and spends more economy to create the historical hubs.

In my view , historical building are crucial in the recent times for education, entertainment and business for sustainable income. The young generation can growth and bloom from these sites.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for interest in historical buildings and methods of research. However, the development is limited. The ideas regarding 'family attachment' and 'business' are introduced but lack depth. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the arguments. The explanation of how people research these buildings is also quite vague, focusing more on the 'why' than the 'how'. To improve, you should provide more specific examples of research methods, such as visiting local archives, consulting historical societies, or using online databases.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed. While cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'On the other hand' are used, they are occasionally mechanical or misused. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences lack clear logical links, such as the jump from 'parent share their childhood experiences' to 'Old monuments might be collection of their memories'. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word-choice errors, such as 'raising of people interest' instead of 'growing public interest' and 'expenses in the old culture' which does not convey the intended meaning. You rely on basic vocabulary, and there is a lack of precision when discussing historical or architectural concepts. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'heritage conservation', 'architectural significance', or 'genealogical research'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the parents wants to share' (subject-verb agreement), 'my grand father show me' (tense inconsistency), and 'The young generation can growth' (incorrect word form). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. When complex structures are attempted, they often contain errors, such as 'when the electricity is not able'. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, consistent verb tenses, and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
