Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest in building history and methods of research. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you mention property value and safety as reasons, these points are not fully explored or supported with deep analysis. The research methods are also quite generic, focusing almost exclusively on 'Google' or 'property websites'. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples of research methods, such as visiting local archives, consulting historical societies, or interviewing long-term residents. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, merely restating the introduction rather than synthesising the main points effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the reasons and then the methods. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For example, you use 'In this day and age' and 'In conclusion' as standard templates. The transition between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother; some sentences feel like a list of points rather than a cohesive argument. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this', 'these') is precise would improve the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, such as 'technological-driven' and 'residential homes'. However, there is a lack of precision and some repetition of basic terms like 'information' and 'house'. Some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'year of manufacture' (usually 'year of construction' for buildings) and 'past history' (which is redundant). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to architecture, historical research, or real estate to demonstrate a more flexible and sophisticated range of language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist. For instance, 'such as the land is disputed' should be 'such as whether the land is disputed'. There are also minor punctuation and article errors, such as 'In Australia it is quite common' (missing a comma after the introductory phrase) and 'for renting purpose' (should be 'purposes'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions.
