Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest in home history and methods for research. However, the development of these ideas is limited. While the reasons (curiosity, connection) are mentioned, they are not fully explored or supported with convincing detail. The second body paragraph attempts to list research methods, but the explanations are fragmented and lack clarity. For instance, the suggestion to 'talk previous owners' is vague. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or elaborate on how these research methods actually function in practice, rather than just listing them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'First of all' and 'In addition', the internal structure of the sentences is frequently confusing, which makes the logical flow difficult to follow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'they also share their to ideas and try to know other person to historical information collect'. The conclusion is also quite weak and does not effectively summarise the main points, instead introducing slightly garbled phrasing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'construction can be more useful' and 'try to know other person to historical information collect'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to express more complex concepts accurately. To improve, focus on learning common collocations related to research and history, and ensure you are using words in their correct grammatical form (e.g., 'collecting' instead of 'collect').
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb forms ('people are become'), missing articles, and incorrect word order. Many sentences are structurally flawed, such as 'They should be collect this information'. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate, which leads to a lack of clarity. The punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of modal verbs, before attempting more complex sentence patterns.
