Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under-length, containing only 78 words against the required 250-word minimum. Consequently, the task is not fully addressed. The essay fails to develop the ideas requested in the prompt, as it cuts off abruptly after the introduction and the beginning of the first body paragraph. Because the response is incomplete, it is impossible to evaluate the development of ideas or the presentation of a clear position. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full response that addresses both parts of the prompt—the reasons for the interest in building history and the methods for researching it—with sufficient supporting detail and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response is too short to demonstrate a coherent structure or effective paragraphing. While there is a basic attempt at an introduction and a transition word ('Firstly'), the text ends before any logical progression can be established. There is no conclusion, and the flow of ideas is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the writing. To achieve a higher band, you need to organize your ideas into clear, distinct paragraphs with a logical introduction, body paragraphs that develop your points, and a concluding summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'getting information' and 'previous concepts' are somewhat vague and lack the precision expected in an academic essay. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'mostly people get curios' instead of 'most people are curious'. The range of vocabulary is limited by the brevity of the text, preventing the demonstration of more sophisticated or academic lexical items. Focus on using more precise terminology related to history, architecture, and research methods.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammar contains several errors that hinder clarity. For example, 'The number of people is rising those are interested' is grammatically incorrect; it should be 'The number of people who are interested is rising'. There is also a repetition of 'and' in the first paragraph. The sentence structures are simple, and the lack of length prevents the use of a wider range of complex grammatical structures. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and sentence construction, ensuring that your ideas are expressed with grammatical accuracy.
