Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you identify reasons for researching property history and suggest methods, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack depth. The personal anecdote provided is somewhat tangential and does not effectively support the broader societal trend mentioned in the prompt. Furthermore, the conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed with sufficient detail and that your essay reaches the required length to allow for a full exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, making the flow of ideas difficult to follow. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between police stations and property history is not well-explained. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, unified focus will help improve the overall structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and contains several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'preistiant' (likely intended as 'persistent' or 'passionate') and 'Residients'. You rely on basic vocabulary, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. There are also issues with collocation, such as 'take the intrest in the history of house'. To achieve a higher band score, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to property, history, and research, and work on using these words in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with sentence structure, such as fragments ('Although, people are becoming...') and run-on sentences. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent, for example, 'the history of one house' instead of 'a house'. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct punctuation and verb tenses, before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
