Student answer (Band 5.0)

From my prespective, it is significant to knew about the history of the house or building where you plan to live. As i think, doing this research is helpfull in future and we can save ourselves from any problem.

In some countries, poeple are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in because they are curious about it. Futhermore, they wanted to know who lived before in there house or building wanted to know about who made it and why. Is there house or building was the part of the great wars or another historical event or what its cost in early ages. In addition, it is a very interesting and joyfull process people feel amazing. Moreover, they get exicited if they found that some historical personality has also lived in the same house or building. They get to knew about their ancestors and their house history. In my opinion, everyone wanted to know about there house history and also they feels very attracted in doing so.

I firmly believed that, poeple will find it through the internet or some old books about geography. Addionally, they get to know it from their grandparents. The easiest way to find about history of house, building or anything is through internet, magazines, old books and old landmark owner records. For instance, just enter you landmark pincode on internet and it will tell the history of your house or building. Its the easiest way to find.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for interest in building history and methods for research. However, the development of ideas is limited. The reasons provided, such as curiosity or historical events, are mentioned but not fully explored or supported with detailed examples. The research methods are listed briefly, but the explanation of how these methods work is superficial. The position is clear, but the overall development lacks the depth required for a higher band. To improve, you should expand on your points by explaining the 'why' and 'how' in more detail, providing concrete examples or hypothetical scenarios to illustrate your arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Moreover' and 'In addition'. There are instances where the logical flow between sentences is disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where ideas about historical events and personal feelings are grouped together without smooth transitions. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track the subject matter. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic words like 'interesting', 'good', and 'find'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'joyfull process' instead of 'enjoyable experience' and 'get to knew' instead of 'get to know'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the presence of spelling errors (e.g., 'prespective', 'helpfull', 'poeple', 'exicited', 'Addionally') indicate a limited range. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise vocabulary, collocations, and ensuring correct spelling of common academic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. There are consistent issues with verb tense consistency (e.g., 'they wanted to know' instead of 'they want to know'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure (e.g., 'Is there house or building was the part of...'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some attempts at complex ones that are often grammatically incorrect. To improve, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, correct verb forms, and proofreading for common errors like 'there' versus 'their' and 'its' versus 'it's'.
