Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for interest in home history and methods for research. The ideas are relevant, such as emotional connection and architectural value, and the research methods mentioned (land registries, local residents) are practical. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the mention of Ahmedabad is a good specific example, but it is not fully integrated into the argument. The conclusion is a bit brief and does not fully synthesize the points made. To reach a higher band, ensure that each reason is supported by a more detailed explanation or a clearer example to demonstrate a deeper exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost', 'Secondly', and 'In addition', though some are used repetitively or slightly awkwardly (e.g., 'In addition' used twice in the same paragraph). The progression of ideas is generally clear, although the transition between the reasons and the research methods could be smoother. Referencing is mostly clear, but there are instances where the flow is interrupted by minor grammatical errors that affect the cohesion of the sentences. Overall, the structure is functional and supports the reader's understanding.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated language like 'contemporary era', 'scrutinize', and 'sentimental values'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'most of people keen about to finding' instead of 'most people are keen to find', and 'bule prints' (spelling error). The range is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, but the lack of precision and occasional errors in word formation prevent it from reaching a higher band. Focusing on collocations and ensuring correct word forms would significantly improve the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Examples include 'Every home has own culture' (missing article), 'most of people keen about to finding' (incorrect verb form), and 'There are various way' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some misplaced commas and spacing issues. While the meaning remains clear despite these errors, the lack of control over complex structures and the persistence of basic grammatical mistakes limit the score. More attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage is needed.
