Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that, majority of people want to know the background of the apartment or building in which they live in. The main cause behind this are their saftey issues. Th people can research on internet and from the surroundings.
To begin with, families investigate the history of the home and building for the saftey and also enviromental issues. This is because catastrophic reasons like tornado and earthquake can damage, if the buildings are not well constructed and that damage can directly affect on the saftey of the people that live in and work in , home and building. For instance, in turkey there was massive distruction of buildings and apartments that led to several deaths because of earthquake. Theirfore, it is advisable to check the history of the place where you want to live and work, that it can bear enviromental damage.
On the others hand, they can search on the internet and ask from the surrounding where that home exist. This is because neighbours of that area can explain you well because they are living there from a long time and also on internet you can search that place and can read reviews and different suggestions of folks. For example, facebook market place and google map, people give their reviews and tell how old are this building or apartment. So, it is easy to search on internet and also get information from the society.
To conclude, people want to know the history of home because of the saftey concerns and they can find the background from the wifi and can ask from th surrounding societies of that area.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for researching building history and methods for doing so. However, the development of ideas is limited. The explanation regarding safety and environmental issues is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the example of the earthquake in Turkey is relevant but not fully connected to the concept of 'researching' a building's history. The ideas remain at a surface level, and the conclusion is brief. To improve, you should expand on why people are becoming more interested in this topic, perhaps mentioning cultural heritage or property value, and provide more detailed, logical steps for the research process.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'On the others hand' and 'To begin with' are used, but the internal flow between sentences is frequently disjointed. For example, the transition between discussing environmental damage and the research methods is abrupt. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the phrase 'from the wifi' in the conclusion, which does not logically follow from the previous points. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help the ideas flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'saftey' (misspelled), 'home', 'building', and 'search'. There is a lack of academic or precise vocabulary required for a higher band score. Some word choices are awkward or incorrect, such as 'catastrophic reasons' instead of 'catastrophic events' and 'from the wifi' to describe internet research. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to property, history, and research, and ensure you use more sophisticated synonyms to avoid repeating the same words throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The main cause... are their saftey issues'), article usage (e.g., 'on internet'), and sentence structure (e.g., 'that damage can directly affect on the saftey'). Punctuation is also problematic, with unnecessary commas and missing spaces after commas. While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often faulty or contain errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common spelling errors like 'saftey' and 'distruction'.
