IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.

What are the reasons for this?

How can people research this?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the modern era, the majority of the people are getting fascinated by historical places or houses they used to live in. They are very eager to search about them. As far as I am concerned, it is due to the attraction of these old places and respect for their elders. People can reach to these places by contacting with their current owners or by going to registration offices.

Initially, there can be numerous reasons for this situation, especially the younger generation is very interesting searching about old buildings. Moreover, many young adults have developed love and honor for their ancestors by being aware of their histories. They are intrigued about the idea of finding old people history and their lifestyle. For instance, their costumes, lifestyle, foods, and how they used to speak with each other. All these things posses very great importance in their life, because they enjoy to compare modern things with the old ones. Undoubtedly, they also look interesting and an amazing because these things hold a sense of mystery. As a consequence, the great minds of young people start to research for the building's history and pre-history.

On the other hand, people often find it difficult to research about these places, due to the lack of understanding of old things. Although it is hard, some people can still find it by contacting with building's former or current owners, as they assist them properly to reach their original destinations. Furthermore, individuals can also seek help from administrative offices, where they register to home's documents, so it can provide them proper details about specific houses.

In conclusion, It is quite interesting approach to research about ancient things, as people get more aware of them and also start to create their own history by learning something from them. Also staying in touch with the some old people help them to assist better.
