IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.
What are the reasons for this?
How can people research this?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
A growing number of individuals are convinced that they need to know the history of their house or building. I feel that this trend is a consequence of human being interest in their origin and status in society. To gather useful information about a house or building history, it is necessary to search about the history of the region and also the country where the house is located and also to ask the elderly people inhabited around the house, who are still alive.
As human being always research about their origin so that they take these informations to prove their nobleness or higher hierarchy in their community, finding that a noble man or an important family lived in a house historically, this will make them feel proud. This fact also turn a simple building to heritage if the history of house was unique.
Historians and archeologists in each country have written many books about the tribes or ethnies that inhabited in a specific area, this writings if analyzed carefully, one can know with a highr precision the people who might live in his house. Furthermore, elderly people have rich and good informations about the inhabitants of a plac, so they can help, too.
To conclude, individuals are more interested in their history, generally speaking, which explains why they would like to know more about their house. This could be achieved by looking for history in bokks
