Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the task by identifying reasons why people research their house's history (curiosity, building materials, culture) and methods for doing so (internet, government offices, libraries, neighbors). The main ideas are presented, though they are somewhat repetitive and lack deep elaboration. For example, the mention of building materials ("people use fake materials to build an house") is slightly confused and under-developed. However, a clear position and general overview are maintained throughout, satisfying the requirements for a Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into logical paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs addressing reasons and methods, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as "To begin with," "Additionally," and "In conclusion," though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or formulaic. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as "research on it first and foremost is the internet," where the pronoun antecedent is weak. Overall progression is visible, fitting the Band 6 descriptor.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts at less common items such as "curiosity," "alternative," and "generation." However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as "knowlege" instead of knowledge, "to old" instead of too old, and "an house" instead of a house. These inaccuracies do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the score to a Band 5.5, balancing the adequate range with recurring lexical slips.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as "History plays an important role in people live to understand about past..." However, there are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, articles, and prepositions, including "people live" instead of lives, "materials which was been use" instead of were used, and "easy find" instead of easily found. While meaning is generally clear, the density of grammatical errors keeps this criterion at a Band 5.0.
