In some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.

What are the reasons for this?

How can people research this?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

According to a research, in many countries people are taking interest in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in. They are finding out the owners of thier house who lived here before them. They research it to know that how their house were built and what is here in that place before the house. There are two way to find the history one is to ask older people in the family or in neighnourhood who are living here for a long time and second option is to check the old maps of the area.

People are interested to find that what is here beofre their house and how thier house is look like in the past. They want to learn about the history of thier house. They try different methods to find out the history of thier house. They are also spending money to buy the old maps to find out that how thier house look like.

I also tried to find out the history of my house. I asked my grandmother about it. She told me about the last 60 years and then I find out the papers from my house and old maps from the books store near me to check history of my house. There is a bus station at that place in 1860. After it the government allot this area for public residence and then a man bought that area and built a house there and then my grand father bought it from him in early 90,s. From this my family is living here.

I think it is interesting to find out the history of our house that who is the owner of this house and what is here in the past.
