Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for researching building history (curiosity and tragic history, as seen in examples like Pakistan) and methods of research (connecting with older people or using the internet). However, the ideas are repetitive and underdeveloped. For instance, the student states 'the predominent reason is the curiosity' and reiterates this in multiple paragraphs without introducing deep elaboration. The examples provided, such as mentioning Pakistan or social media videos, are somewhat general and lack strong integration to fully support the arguments. Because all parts of the prompt are addressed albeit with limited development, this performance aligns with Band 5.0 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is divided into four paragraphs, showing an attempt at a standard essay structure with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing reasons and methods, and a conclusion. However, the overall progression is hampered by repetitive statements and mechanical transitions such as 'In contrast,' 'For illustrate,' and 'On the other factor is how people can reach this.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in pronoun usage ('who they live' instead of 'where they live'). Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or overused, creating a disjointed flow that requires effort from the reader. These features reflect Band 5.0 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently reusing words like 'history,' 'house,' 'building,' 'place,' and 'interest.' There are frequent spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'subtainsial' instead of substantial, 'predookent' / 'predominent,' 'easiy' instead of easy, 'knowladge' instead of knowledge, and 'connent' instead of connect. The student attempts less common vocabulary, but these attempts are marred by inaccurate collocations and persistent spelling mistakes that occasionally strain the reader, fitting the Band 4.0 to 5.0 profile. On balance, the resource is minimally adequate for the task, supporting a Band 4.5 rounded to 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of structures, with frequent basic and complex sentence attempts that are faulty. Examples of grammatical inaccuracies include 'individuals have interest to gain knowledge about houses or building where they live in,' 'the place about they live,' and 'connect to the other people who live that place.' Punctuation is basic, and subject-verb agreement issues are common (e.g., 'the house are build'). Errors are frequent throughout the response and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar strictly in the Band 4.5 to 5.0 range.
