Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt—reasons why people research building history and how they can do so. However, the ideas remain underdeveloped and repetitive, often lacking clarity. For example, the explanation regarding people wanting to find out 'culture things' and how old people spend their time is vague. Furthermore, the response falls short of the minimum word count requirement, containing only 236 words instead of the required 250, which places a constraint on the overall development and results in a penalty under Task Achievement. Because of the limited development and word count deficiency, the score sits firmly at band 4.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs reflecting the two main questions, though the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and confusing logical links. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', and 'Furthermore' are used, but they are often mechanically applied or inappropriate for the context (e.g., 'The another reason is that, they searching those things...'). Referencing is also unclear in places, making it difficult for the reader to follow the train of thought. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion fails to create a smooth, logical flow, aligning the response with band 5.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, heavily relying on words like 'people', 'things', 'history', and 'culture'. There are noticeable limitations in lexical resource, such as 'culture things' instead of 'cultural heritage', and incorrect word forms like 'conservation' instead of 'conversation' or 'consultation'. The attempts to use less common vocabulary result in inaccuracies that occasionally impede communication and strain the reader, reflecting the characteristics of a band 4.5 or 5.0 response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

Grammatical control is weak throughout the essay, with frequent errors in tense, word order, and clause structure. The text contains numerous non-sentences or poorly formed complex structures, such as 'more and more people wanted to find out their culture things and shows to other people' and 'people can search this is different approach.' Subject-verb agreement and preposition use are also problematic. While simple sentences are occasionally attempted, errors are pervasive and frequently cause difficulty for the reader, placing this aspect at band 4.5.
