In some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.

What are the reasons for this?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often believe that people in some countries are eager to know the historical background of the house or building they live in. There are several reasons for this and people can research it through the internet, books and to the people who live there.

To begin with, many people are becoming interested in finding out the history of the place because of safety and security. Nowadays, there are many unpredictable events that are happening in the world. To make sure they move in a safe environment they are curious about the past events that happened there. For instance, if there is a past scenarios of killings or murders made in that place, they would not take the chance or consider to relocate in that place. In addition, people need to adapt to a new environment and part of a community. They want to learn how people live there, the cultures, norms and traditions so that they feel the fundamental human emotional need to be accepted, valued and included as an intergral part of a society.

People can research the history in many ways. First, they can ask for the people living their for a longer period because they experience mulitple events and they are the secondary sources when it comes to knowing a history. Furthermore, historical events are readily available on different platforms. They can research it by using their digital devices and internet connection. There are also many vidoes available online recreating the past scenarios or even documentaries where people can learn through visual and interactive way. Lastly, through books that are still available on town heritages or library where people can borrow and read whenever they can.

In conclusion, individuals are becoming curious about history of the house or building they live in because of safety and to have a sense of belongingness in a group which they can learn through local people, internet and traditional books.
