Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days some people seem to argue that in some areas of world, people are taking interest in history and want to know about their residence history or place where they live. However, I firmly believe that it is necessary for people to know history about their own homes at least to make them novel among other individuals. There are certain reasons of my opinion which i wish to highlight in the essay.

In the first place, it would be quite interesting to note that the main reason behind it why people have desire to gain knowledge of their residence because history is getting the favourite subject of the majority of the people. For that reason they are curious about their home past. They want to know who lived there before and interested to know which kind of material and technology were being used to built their house. One illustration for this is that, old house had owned by a rich famous local person or owned by a ancient family which make them more connected to their house. Such finding could increase their sense of belonging with the property. Another major reason of this side of the topic seem to be that property may had historical and architectural building or might had greater cultural value. For instance, old century building used during a war as shelter and may be used for historical purpose which could have a higher value in the market.

To put this issue into second perspective, which is worth considering is that there are palenty of sources availabe in every country where people can do deep research about their homes and residence. People can get help from elderly neighborhood people, and make use of different types of community buidlings accross all the area. Wide variety of primary sources are accessible from deeds to documentries, manuscripts, map, photorgraphs and floor plan. These resources could be provide deep and authentic knowledge and better understanding of their targeted area.

In conclusion, I am convinced to say that it is indeed a debatable issue which needs further analysis and discussion. However, in the light of above discussed arguments and examples. I am quite safe to conclude that these might be the main reasons which make people to know about their home history.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring the reasons why people research their home history (such as personal connection, historical value, and architecture) and how they can research it (using elderly neighbors, community buildings, primary sources like deeds, and maps). However, the position stated in the introduction ("to make them novel among other individuals") is somewhat unclear and awkwardly expressed, which limits full development. The ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as old buildings being used as shelters during a war. This aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors, as all parts of the task are addressed, but some ideas and explanations lack complete clarity and precision.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall arrangement with a standard four-paragraph structure. Paragraphs are used appropriately to separate introduction, reasons, research methods, and conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, seen in awkward transitional phrases such as "To put this issue into second perspective, which is worth considering is that...". Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression within sentences can be clunky. Paragraphing is present and logical, but the overarching flow places this text firmly at a Band 6 level due to noticeable lapses in cohesive devices and referencing clarity.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, permitting some discussion of abstract concepts related to history and architecture. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as "manuscripts", "documentries" (misspelled), and "architectural building", but there are noticeable spelling errors ("palenty", "availabe", "buidlings", "accross", "photorgraphs") and word choice slips. Collocations are occasionally unnatural, such as "residence history". Because the lexical range is sufficient to communicate the main points despite frequent spelling and minor word choice inaccuracies, a Band 6 score is appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tense consistency, articles, and prepositions (e.g., "reasons of my opinion", "history is getting the favourite subject", "old house had owned by", "property may had historical"). Punctuation and capitalization errors also occur ("i" instead of "I"). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent enough to prevent the response from achieving a Band 7, making Band 6 a fair reflection of the writer's grammatical control.
