IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.
What are the reasons for this?
How can people research this?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
people are always interested to know about the background of anything which belongs to them.
Every house has a history and majority of the people are interested to know about that. in the recent past, people from different countries have been taking interest to know the heritage of their living space. There are multiple reasons to know the story and I will discuss it with examples below.
Firstly,There are many different acitvities perform in certain buildings which later on transformed to a residential space. For instance, in the begining of 2000, there was a blast on 2 major cities of japan which was completely demolished but now the life is back to normal and everyone is living there. additionally survey shows that 80% of the people living in those cities often perform research to know about their areas which proves their curisoty to know about the history.
Further more, Many individuals loves to know about the history of their building because they want to relate with the things happening in the building now. such as, Many younger peple ask stories from their grand parent about their lives in the same building to compare the living in the past with present.
The best way to do research on such historic topic is by conducting sessions with the grand parents which can tell about activities of the place. There are lot of books which can help the individual to know about the background. Knowing about the history of your place will allow you to pass the knowlege to the coming generation.

However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen in abrupt transitions like 'Firstly,There are...' and 'Further more, Many individuals loves...'. Paragraphing is attempted, but sentences often lack smooth logical progression, and referencing is occasionally unclear. This demonstrates the characteristics of Band 5.5 to 6.0; a score of 5.5 is appropriate due to mechanical cohesive devices and occasional paragraphing flaws.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts at less common lexical items such as 'heritage', 'demolished', and 'curiosity'.
