Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the present era, an increasing number of people are taking interest in history. The residents of different countries implementing a research to find out about their ancient culture and the history of the houses or buildings where they live in. They can do this research with the help of archaeological department.
First of all, history plays a vital role in human life. In recent years, many archaeologists have found old monuments, fossils and ancient jewellery items, which belongs to kings and queens. Their main reason, behind this research is that they want to understand about their traditions and how their ancestors was living in a past years. For instance, in India there are many historical monuments like forts, temples, tombs, caves and ancient cities. Scientists and archaeologists, collect the evidence and research on that, how all these places was created and in which years. Recently, a person from South India in Kerala, has found some prehistoric items, which is related to lord shiva statue. Which was around 1,000 years old. His main motive is that, if he sells this statue in the market then he will get a good price for that or to get a fame from that. They can do this research with the help of government or else they can also purchase a machines, which can detect the metal objects and find the time period.
The other reasons are that, the place where they lives does not belongs to any negative effects as related to Vaastu sastra. Moreover, they also get to know about instead of their house, which other things was made here. Because, in past years the design and structure of the house was very decorative and stronger than modern house. So the people gets fascinated about monuments architectural sites. Which types of rocks they used and how they carved them. By finding this prehistoric items they can preserve in museum, so that young generation could get knowledge about history.
In conclusion, this is a good development approach, as they get to know about Vaastu sastra knowledge, about their ancestors. This research can only be possible through government help.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the two parts of the prompt, discussing reasons why people research the history of their homes and how they can conduct this research. However, the development of ideas lacks focus and wanders into unrelated topics such as archaeologists finding fossils, kings and queens, and selling statues for profit or fame. While some relevant points are raised—such as understanding architectural styles and ensuring positive energy like Vaastu sastra—the arguments are often confusingly articulated or underdeveloped. For instance, the transition from homeowners researching a building's history to finding prehistoric items and lord shiva statues feels disjointed. To achieve a higher band score, the response needs to maintain a clearer, more consistent focus specifically on residential buildings and present well-supported, logical arguments without drifting into general archaeology or treasure hunting.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt to organize ideas logically, starting with reasons and moving into research methods and conclusion. However, the overall progression is frequently disrupted by sudden shifts in topic and poor logical connections between sentences. Cohesive devices are used mechanically or inappropriately, such as the frequent misuse of transition phrases like 'First of all' and 'Moreover.' Additionally, referencing is often unclear; pronouns like 'they' and 'their' frequently shift referents mid-paragraph, making it difficult to follow whether the writer is referring to homeowners, archaeologists, or scientists. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph unity is weak due to disparate ideas being grouped together.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent lexical inaccuracies and awkward collocations. Examples such as 'taking interest in history,' 'implementing a research,' and 'get a fame' demonstrate limited control over word choice and collocation. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary items such as 'archaeological department,' 'prehistoric items,' and 'architectural sites,' these are often marred by errors in form or usage. Spelling is generally acceptable, but vocabulary limitations and awkward phrasing frequently strain the reader's understanding and restrict the response to a modest band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but attempts at complex sentences are very frequently faulty. There are persistent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the houses or buildings where they live in,' 'how all these places was created,' 'the place where they lives'), incorrect verb tenses ('ancestors was living'), and missing prepositions or articles. Punctuation errors also occur, such as sentence fragments ('Which was around 1,000 years old. Which types of rocks they used...'). These frequent errors can cause some difficulty and strain for the reader, though the core meaning can usually be deciphered.
