IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.

What are the reasons for this?

How can people research this?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many countries, numerious people are intrigued by the history of the place they are living in. Wether its their house or building, they want to know its background. For example: the time of construction, who lived there, and what happened to them.

One of the most prominate reason behind this interest, is the believe that a place effects its inhabitant. Some people are of perspective that a place holds the energy of its past resident. If they had a good experience living there, they will also get good energy from them. Simulteniously, if someone had a negative experience at that place such as death or self harm, their soul or aura remains at that place and brings bad luck for the new resident. Recent research demonstrates that a huge number of people chose's their new house or apartment only after meeting with the old residents and getting to know their experiance in detail.

In addition some people are interested in the history of their house or building in order to get to know it better. Verious people are interested in the history before renting or buying it to make sure, its a safe place to live in.

People can research the history of their house or building by asking the old neighbours about it. The people who are living their for a long period of time, can provide authentic data about the place on the basis of their experience. They should investigate the landlord to make sure that both sides are sharing the same information. Consquantly,to clarify that the knowledge shared with them are not baseless rumors. Nowadays we are living in the world of digitalization, so online resuorces can also be utilized to verify the facts and figures.

To sum up, in verious countries people are becoming interested about the background of the place they are living in. This is done to make sure they are living in a secure place and not getting effected by bad luck. However sometimes, people do it just to get to know their place better. People can search about the history of the location they are living in, by investigating the landlord and the neighbourhood, or searching online.
