Student answer (Band 5.5)
In specific countries, a huge number of people are becoming interested in locating out the history of their accommodation or any building infrastructure they resides in.
This is happening mainly because they want to know the background of that place, where they want to live on for the rest of their life. They don't want to face any kind of difficulties future. New owners can easily gain information by previous people or neighborhood and from any documentation related to that house.
In some regions of the world, people find it appealing to check the background information of the house or building they live in. Nowadays, everyone is very conscious about purchasing a new house, so they try to get some background information and history of that house because they don't want to get into trouble in the future and easily spend the rest of their life peacefully in that house. One of the main reason of this activity is because there is a lot of fraud happening in the paperwork.
If newcomers don't check the paperwork properly, they will get into a trap and spend the rest of their life circling around the court. For instance, sometimes property is on the name of two people and one of them try to sell it and succeed without telling the other person, this will create problems for new buyers because the other person will not hand over the paperwork.
Nowadays, people are very aware when they want to live in a house. They properly check the background information and the past time of that house. They can easily get information from neighbors and from previous owners, they also meet the people who are associated with this house previously and read the documentation carefully.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the reasons why people research building histories—such as avoiding future trouble and preventing property fraud—and how they conduct this research, mentioning neighbors, previous owners, and documentation. However, the development of ideas is repetitive, with the same points reiterated across multiple paragraphs (e.g., avoiding future trouble and checking paperwork). This over-generalisation and circular reasoning prevent the response from reaching a higher band. While all parts are addressed, the arguments remain somewhat limited and lack fully realized extension or diverse supporting examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance on the topic. Paragraphing is attempted, but the logical progression is hindered by heavy repetition between paragraphs, making the structure feel disjointed in places. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'Nowadays, everyone is very conscious...'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'one of them try to sell it'. Overall, the organization shows clear intent and basic logical flow, placing it firmly at the midpoint of coherence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common lexical items such as 'infrastructure', 'fraud', and 'documentation'. However, there are notable word-choice errors, collocational slips, and awkward phrasings throughout the text, such as 'locating out' instead of 'finding out', 'building infrastructure they resides in', and 'past time of that house'. Furthermore, repetition of basic vocabulary items reduces the lexical range. These inaccuracies do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the score to a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. There are, however, frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('building infrastructure they resides in', 'one of them try to sell it'), tense usage, and prepositional phrases ('on the name of two people' instead of 'in the name of'). While the meaning is generally understandable despite these errors, the high frequency of basic mistakes prevents the text from achieving a higher band score. Complex structures are attempted, but they are often marred by inaccuracies.
