Student answer (Band 5.0)

In some countries, people are becoming so curious to know about the history of the home where they live in. There are too many reasons about this. And it is very easy to know about the home were they live.

I strongly believe that everyone has an emotional attachment with their home. Additionally, it is very intresting to get history about your home how it was look like in the past. For example, initially I was so, curious to meet the landlord of the property which I was renting out because hye made that property so beautiful. I am truely obssesed with the huge windows in that property.

Another example is that, people want to know about the history of the house they bought because they want to renovate it in a bit different way that it used to be in the past. Sometimes people want to change the wall paint, media wall, all paintings and curtains as well.

In this era, it is very easy to research about anything online. Internet made our life very easy. On the other hand, local libraries, archives and the local council got all the records of the house. We can get the details about the ownership of that property from local council as well.

To sum up, people are so attached with their home that is the main reason to get more knowledge about it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the main parts of the task by outlining reasons for researching a home's history, such as emotional attachment and renovation purposes, and methods of research like using the internet or local archives. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed, lacking sufficient depth or concrete examples to fully explore the prompt. Furthermore, it is important to note a critical issue regarding length: the response contains only 232 words, thus failing to meet the minimum requirement of 250 words. This shortfall directly impacts the completeness of the task execution.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation present in the response, but it lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, with separate sections for reasons and methods, but paragraphs are short and sometimes abrupt. Cohesive devices are used mechanically or are occasionally repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on simple transitional phrases like 'Another example is that' and 'In this era'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, which disrupts the logical flow between ideas and prevents the essay from achieving a more fluid structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'emotional attachment' and 'renovate', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice and word form, such as 'intresting' (spelling), 'history about your home how it was look like' (awkward phrasing), and 'truely obssesed' (spelling and collocation). These lexical inaccuracies and occasional spelling mistakes cause some minor difficulty for the reader without completely blocking communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a limited range of sentence structures, primarily relying on simple sentences alongside a few basic complex forms. When attempts are made at more complex structures, they are frequently faulty, seen in clauses such as 'where they live in' and 'how it was look like in the past'. Frequent errors in prepositions, relative pronouns, and verb tenses are evident throughout the text, which can cause occasional difficulty and require the reader to slow down to grasp the intended meaning.
