Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response addresses the prompt minimally and tangentially, identifying basic reasons such as architectural strength, ventilation, and historical lifestyle differences, as well as methods of research in a very rudimentary fashion. Ideas are heavily repetitive and lack adequate development or proper support. The writer attempts to explore why people research building histories and how they do it, but the expression is so constrained that the response only partially covers the prompt requirements in a very basic manner, fitting the description of a minimal response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Information and ideas are not arranged coherently. While basic paragraphing is attempted, the overall progression is extremely difficult to follow due to a lack of logical sequencing and a severe absence of appropriate cohesive devices. Transitions between ideas are abrupt and confusing, such as jumping from house structure to life expectancy without clear links. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it hard for the reader to follow the train of thought throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that significantly strain the reader. Terms such as 'camical', 'anhaldi', and 'parafer' demonstrate a very limited lexical range. The writer attempts to use some less common words, but inaccurate word choices and severe spelling mistakes impede communication and keep the response at a very foundational level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
There is a very limited range of grammatical structures used, with frequent errors that distort meaning. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex or compound structures result in severe structural faults and incorrect verb forms, such as 'this people finding how to live old people in in past'. Errors in articles, plurals, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions are pervasive throughout the text, causing constant difficulty and confusion for the reader.
