In some countries, an increasing number of people are becoming interested in learning about the history of the houses or buildings in which they live. This essay will discuss the main reasons for this growing interest and the ways in which people can investigate the history of their homes.
There are several reasons why people are interested in discovering the history of their house. One major reason is that people want to know who lived their and also for reconstruction of the house. Many people are much intreasted in the hostory of the house. Therefore, people are more intreasted on discovering history of house to renovate and be connected to house.
There are several ways in which people can research the history of their homes. One effective method is to search official records, such as government documents and historical archives. These sources can provide information about when the building was constructed, who previously owned it and how the property has changed over time. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing reasons why people research their home's history and how they can do so. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and uneven across the essay. While the methods section includes clear points such as consulting official records, the body paragraph addressing the reasons is repetitive and under-developed, relying on vague assertions about connection and reconstruction without fully expanding on them. For instance, the phrase 'people want to know who lived their and also for reconstruction of the house' hints at valid points, but these ideas lack detailed elaboration and supporting examples. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to extend all main points with thorough explanations and concrete illustrations rather than restating the same concepts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from introduction to body paragraphs and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, with one paragraph dedicated to reasons and another to research methods. However, cohesion at the sentence level is occasionally mechanical and repetitive, particularly in the first body paragraph where transitions like 'Therefore, people are more intreasted on discovering history of house' disrupt the flow. Referencing can also be imprecise, as seen with pronouns that lack clear antecedents. To achieve a higher level of cohesion, the writer should employ a wider and more natural variety of cohesive devices and ensure smoother transitions between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the writer's basic ideas about historical research and property renovation. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'reconstruction' and 'historical archives', but these attempts are often marred by inaccuracies in word choice, spelling, and prepositional collocations. For example, 'intreasted' is misspelled repeatedly, 'who lived their' contains a homophone error, and 'intreasted on discovering' uses an incorrect preposition. These noticeable errors and limited lexical flexibility mean the range remains basic. To improve, the writer must expand their active vocabulary, pay closer attention to word formation and spelling, and learn standard collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as subordinate clauses ('In case any renovation is required what are the steps they followed'). However, attempts at complex sentences frequently contain errors, and there are frequent issues with article usage, subject-verb agreement, and pluralization, such as 'how first owner's are connected' and 'using the maps through online'. Punctuation and grammatical patterns within clauses also show persistent slips. While these errors rarely impede communication entirely, they prevent the text from achieving a higher level of grammatical control. To progress, the writer needs to practice forming complex sentences accurately and proofread carefully to eliminate basic structural mistakes.
