Student answer (Band 5.0)
From my perspective it the good choice of people living in a house they also want to research about the history of that house. I am also glad to know about hat young generation having intrest in history. In different countries people live almost from childhood to become getting old but they donot know about the building who build it?, How much time spend on this building to build it?, How our ansestor doing sacrifices for achieving this building?
The reason is that the young generation taking too much intrest in history that is the main reason they are moving toward knowing the history of the building they live. Becasue their university programs and many social activities they perform, i think that is the main reason to getting intrest in history of the building.
The people research for the building by talk about the history of building with their elders like parents and grandparents also watching old documents of the building to learn about it. Like how they build which material used and compare with todays market. Also they need to learn about by closed neighbours they have enough knowledge about it.
In my real life i see example of a men living in old building, I think the building belongs to its late father they donot have much knowledge about it. They donot know the real owner of property. They want to sell out the building and wants to move in another location to find a small new house for them. But the donot know the history of the building in that they live. Its a big problem for them they donot know who was the owner and donot know about the history of building. Thats why we should want to know about the history of building in which we lived, Not need too much research but little one is good enough.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both questions: it suggests that interest in history motivates people to investigate, and mentions asking older relatives, consulting documents, and speaking with neighbours. The personal example also relates to the topic. However, the reasons are only partly explained. The claim that university programmes and social activities create interest is introduced but not clarified, and the discussion focuses mainly on young people rather than explaining other possible motivations, such as understanding a property’s ownership or preserving family heritage. The research methods are relevant but brief, with little detail about how documents or other sources could be checked. Develop each main point with a clear explanation or example so the response answers both parts more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: it introduces the topic, gives reasons, describes research methods, and ends with an example and recommendation. This helps readers identify the main sections. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and ideas are repeated rather than linked into a developing argument. For example, the final paragraph repeats that the man does not know the building’s history several times, while the connection between the example and the earlier research methods is not made explicit. Linking words such as “Because” and “Also” are used mechanically, and some references, including “it” and “they,” are difficult to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses a small set of relevant words, including “history,” “building,” “documents,” “elders,” and “owner,” so the general topic is usually understandable. However, vocabulary is repetitive, especially the repeated use of “building” and “history,” and several word choices or collocations make meaning less clear. For instance, “closed neighbours” does not clearly express the intended idea, and “moving toward knowing” is an awkward way to describe becoming interested in research. Spelling errors such as “intrest,” “Becasue,” and “ansestor” are also noticeable. Build a more varied topic vocabulary and check spelling and natural word combinations; this would make the ideas easier to understand and more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts some longer sentences and questions, but most structures are simple, and attempts to combine ideas often contain errors. Examples include “the young generation taking too much interest” and “how much time spend on this building,” where the verb forms are incomplete. Subject–verb agreement and sentence construction are also problematic in “they donot have much knowledge” and “the donot know.” Punctuation is inconsistent: questions are embedded in a sentence without clear separation, and several sentences run together or lack appropriate capitalisation. These errors can make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses while checking verb forms, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
