Student answer (Band 6.0)

In few states, an increasing number of residents are growing their interest in knowing more about the history of property they are staying in. There are several reasons behind this including integrity of the structure of it and tenant-owner relationship. In my opinion, people can learn about the history of building through making an inquiry of related documents from owner as well as asking for a review from neighbours.

Residents are becoming more and more curious about they history of place whether it is a standalone house or a flat part of a commercial building. There could be several reasons behind this but in my opinion two reasons are prevalent. First is to know more about the structural integrity of house. They are curious about how reliable building is and whether there has been damage or repair in any part of the house which is important for the safety of residents in future. For example, in earthquake prone area old buildings can be vulnerable and can cost lives of family members in worst case. Second reason is to learn about relationship of previous residents with owner. This is also important because it is really common to find a owner who can be irritating in term of policies and charges related other services that can be hidden.

In my opinion, best way to do research about history of property is to ask about related documents from owner like design standard or structure integrity assement documents as well as previous tenant/owner contact information to learn more. Also a feedbak can be recieved from neighbours of the property they can tell more about owner behavious and previous tenants. In todays modern era, reviews on online websites like Google maps can also be helpful.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question and give a clear view of why residents investigate a property’s past and how they can do so. The two reasons—checking structural safety and learning about previous tenants’ experiences with the owner—are relevant, and the earthquake example helps explain the safety concern. You also suggest practical research methods, including requesting documents, contacting former occupants, asking neighbours and checking online reviews. This meets the task well, with some elements already showing the extension expected at a stronger level. However, the second reason is less fully explained, and the research methods would benefit from more detail about what records to consult or how to verify information. Develop these points further to make the response more consistently complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons, and a final paragraph describing research methods. The sequence is logical, and signposts such as “First,” “Second reason,” and “Also” help readers follow the main points. However, some linking is mechanical, and the repeated use of “in my opinion” does not always add meaning. There are also unclear references, such as “they history” and “the property they can tell more,” which make connections between ideas less smooth. The final paragraph combines several research methods without explaining how they relate or which might be most reliable. Use clearer referencing and vary transitions, while grouping and developing related methods more deliberately.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “structural integrity,” “vulnerable,” “earthquake prone,” and “previous residents.” These choices show an attempt to use specific language rather than relying only on basic terms. However, inaccurate word choice and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural: “in few states,” “growing their interest,” “staying in,” and “a review from neighbours” do not express the intended ideas idiomatically. Spelling errors such as “assement,” “feedbak,” and “behavious” also reduce accuracy. Build a more reliable range of property and research vocabulary, and check spelling and common word partnerships. More precise phrasing would make your ideas easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional example about earthquake-prone areas and a relative clause beginning “whether it is a standalone house or a flat.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message is generally understandable. However, errors in articles, agreement, pronouns and sentence construction occur in several places. For example, “a owner” should use the correct article, “they history” has an incorrect pronoun, and “a feedback can be received” has an awkward grammatical construction. The opening sentence also contains an unclear structure around “property they are staying in.” Review article use, singular and plural forms, and clause construction, then proofread each sentence to improve accuracy while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
