Student answer (Band 4.5)

History has a vast impact in our dailylives. In many countries more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in. There are alot of reasons behind this some of them are ellaborated below.

Firstly in my opinion i think people loves to study history and they have a special interest in history. This interest pushes people in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.

As we know some buldings or houses are too old they have a historic background and its bulding structures looks too old and it attracts many of us.I think this excitement makes us interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.

Secondly, in many countries we study the subject of history from our school level and i think every second person loves to study history and find this subject very interesting and informative i think its everyones favourite subject .I want to share my personal expererience. In my school life i saw many old tourism spots from the Mughal empires and it boosts my interest to visit and know about this place. I study alot about these places. In my holidays i went to see these places with my parents and i really enjoyed it.

People research this in many ways most of us uses old books and vast use of internet also helps us alot.

In my conclusion history has its own charm and everyone shows interest in it. I think old buildings and houses has its unique look and this thing attracts many of us in finding about the history of house or building.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify two relevant reasons—interest in history and the appeal of old buildings—and briefly mention books and the internet as research methods. However, the response only partially answers the task: the reasons are repeated rather than explained in depth, and the research section is especially brief, with no detail about how records or online sources could be used. The personal example concerns Mughal tourist sites, so its connection to researching the history of one’s own home is not fully clear. The response contains 230 words, below the required 250; the 51 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop both parts with specific, directly relevant examples and add enough original explanation to meet the minimum.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic overall shape, moving from an introduction to reasons, research methods and a conclusion. Paragraph breaks and signposts such as “Firstly” and “Secondly” help readers recognise the main sections. However, progression within paragraphs is limited: the first two reasons overlap, and several sentences repeat the idea that people are interested in history without adding a new point. The research methods are compressed into one sentence, while the personal example interrupts the explanation of the second reason. Some linking phrases, including “As we know” and “I think,” are used mechanically. Give each paragraph one clear purpose, connect examples directly to its main idea, and use more precise references and transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “historic background,” “building structures,” “tourism spots,” and “internet,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated references to “interest” and “history.” Some collocations and word choices are awkward, such as “vast use of internet” and “old tourism spots”; spelling errors such as “dailylives,” “ellaborated,” and “expererience” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise language about the reasons and research process, for example, property records, archives, previous owners, or local historical societies. Check spelling and choose natural combinations of words when revising.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the main message is generally understandable. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, with frequent errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries and punctuation. For example, “people loves” should use a plural verb, while “some of us uses” has the same agreement problem; “the history of house” needs an article or possessive determiner. Several sentences run together, such as the opening and “Secondly” section, and capitalisation and spacing around punctuation are unreliable. There is also little variety in accurately controlled complex structures. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and divide long sentences into complete units with clear punctuation.
