Student answer (Band 5.0)

In some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in, because everybody loves to know that who were built their house or building and how it's built.

There are several reasons for this people why people like to explore.Firstly, from their childhood they heard lots of stories from their parents and grand parents about the house or building where they are living.Secondly when they grow up they learn lots of books and watch historic documentries that inspire them alot. These encourge them to research more about the history af their living area, apartment or any building that looks ancient.

For instance, I heard about the 1947 migration of my grandparents from them.I realized that how they suffer from this incident because they have to force to leave their houses in India and move to the Pakistan by British order. So, they cam here and built this house where i am living with my parents. From that time i became an history lover and in my lesiure time i would like to explore the historic buildings and learn more about the history.

People can search lots about in their areas, nearby find any historic place. They should go there and feel about that place, how this place was built, what challenges they faced to made this structure.People can start exploaring from their apartment. They can get a chance to know more about this building material and also it helps them to improve their skill of searching.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions: you suggest that family stories and historical documentaries create interest, and you describe visiting historic places and investigating a building. The personal account of your grandparents’ migration gives a relevant example and explains your own interest. However, the reasons are only briefly developed, and the research methods are not clearly explained as practical steps; for example, “feel about that place” does not show how to find reliable historical information. The response therefore only partially fulfils the task. It also contains 230 words, which is 20 words below the required minimum; the 24 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each point with specific details, such as consulting property records, local archives, or previous residents.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure: it introduces the topic, gives reasons, provides a personal example, and then discusses research. This helps the reader identify the main sections. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and the final paragraph moves between visiting historic places, examining construction challenges, and learning about building materials without showing how these ideas connect. Linking words such as “Firstly” and “Secondly” provide some organisation, but the sequence of research steps remains vague. There is also repetition in “There are several reasons for this people why people like to explore.” Use a clearer topic sentence for each paragraph and connect each supporting detail directly to its main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “historic buildings,” “migration,” “structure,” and “building material,” and the personal example helps make the subject clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “learn lots of books” does not express the intended idea, while “search lots about in their areas” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “documentries,” “encourge,” and “exploaring” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of phrases for researching local history, and check spelling and word forms carefully. This would help you express your ideas more naturally and specifically.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a sentence beginning “because” and a longer account of your grandparents’ migration. However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors can make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Examples include “who were built their house,” “I realized that how they suffer,” and “they have to force to leave,” where question structure, tense, and verb patterns are not controlled. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “I became an history lover” and the run-on opening paragraph. Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, and check verb forms and punctuation before submitting.
