There are several reasons why people like to find some significant information about a place where they live in. To start, when someone move into a place that are not familiar to them, they tend to be keen on the details of each corner because it is really important especially when living alone. This ensures their safety and also to avoid anything worst that will happen in the long run. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both questions: it suggests that residents want to check safety and maintenance, and it names estate agents, online sources, and owners as ways to investigate. These are relevant ideas, but the reasons are only partly developed and sometimes shift away from the specific history of a building. For example, being “keen on the details of each corner” after moving in is not clearly connected to researching its past, while checking maintenance before buying is more directly relevant but needs an example or explanation of what historical records might reveal. The methods are listed rather than explained in depth, and the conclusion repeats the main points. Develop the reasons more clearly and show how each research method can uncover a building’s history.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, one on research methods, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To start,” “In addition,” “First,” and “Lastly” help readers follow the list of points. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and some links are unclear. For instance, the move from wanting to know a home’s details to ensuring safety does not explain how historical research achieves that. The phrase “Second” introduces online information, but the sentence then joins separate ideas with “with this,” making the relationship less smooth. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and avoid repeating the same summary in the conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate its main ideas, including “historical information,” “realtors,” “occupant,” and “restorations.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less precise. For example, “interested about the infrastructure they are staying” does not express the topic naturally, and “search the building” is unclear when the intended meaning is to research its history. “Some significant information” and “relevant information” are also repeated rather than varied. Aim for precise phrases connected to historical research, such as property records, previous owners, or local archives, and check that verbs combine naturally with their objects.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “when,” “because,” and “before,” so there is some structural variety. However, errors occur frequently and can make parts of the response difficult to follow. Examples include “there several reasons,” which is missing a verb, “when someone move,” where the verb does not agree with its subject, and “a place that are not familiar,” where the relative clause has incorrect agreement. The sentence beginning “Second, there are information available online” also has a number-agreement error, and the long sentence joined by “with this” needs clearer punctuation and structure. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries before adding more complex clauses.
