Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you give reasons for researching a building’s past and suggest ways to investigate it. Cultural heritage is a relevant reason, and interviewing neighbours and consulting online sources are practical methods. However, the reasons are not equally clear or developed. The point about security and “underground mysteries” is difficult to connect to people’s interest in a home’s history, and the example of buried tools is not explained. The research methods would also benefit from more specific detail, such as checking local archives, property records, or a library’s historical collections. Your conclusion restates the main ideas, but does not add support. Clearer explanations and more directly relevant examples would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and research methods, and a conclusion. This makes the main progression easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “For example,” “Therefore,” and “In conclusion.” However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “Therefore” does not clearly follow from the point about buried tools, and “Another crucial source” introduces a method without showing how it relates to interviewing neighbours. The introduction also combines a reason and a research method in one sentence, then repeats these points in the body. Organise each paragraph around one main purpose and use more precise references and transitions to show how each supporting detail develops that purpose.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “cultural heritage,” “ancestral origins,” “security issues,” and “online database.” These choices help communicate the subject, and some less common terms show an attempt to be precise. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “other their preserved objects,” “concern about security issues,” and “compare reviews of various archeologists.” “Find about the history” is also repeated where more natural phrasing would improve fluency. Check spelling and word forms, including “archeologists,” and choose expressions that fit the intended meaning. A more controlled range of natural collocations would make the ideas clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and some more complex forms, including a reason clause beginning “This is because” and a sentence with “because” to explain the reliability of online sources. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “they can online database as a source” is missing a verb and article, while “many individuals may be concern” has an incorrect verb form. In “Another crucial source of research is an online database, this source is often reliable,” two independent clauses are joined with a comma. There are also issues with articles and plural forms in phrases such as “the history of the house and a building.” Review sentence boundaries, verb forms, and article use, while continuing to practise varied sentence structures.
