Student answer (Band 5.5)

In some countries, increasing number of individuals are becoming interested in discovering out about the history of house or building they live in. There are several reasons behind this approach.

On one hand, one major cause of this trend is curiosity. People are more curious about the background of any building or home and want to know about the previous owners and activities took place in that building. individuals has also interest in property' security as is it secure to live or not. Residents want to know weather this building had any renovations in the past and what costs would be required for its maintenance. Owner goes in search of what kind of relationship the previous residents had with their neighbors. For instance, if the building is most ancient what measures should be taken in its renovation and how much price would include.

However, there are several ways of finding about the history of home. Firstly, owner can go on websites regarding properties because it has all the information about house' old owner and about its background as well. People can directly contact with the neighbors or closely related people as they actually knows the events that happened in this building and also has information about the owner that has recently left that home .

In conclusion, people want to know about history for property security about maintenance and old owner and they can search it through any legal websites or by neighbors or they can directly contact with the property selling parties.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: curiosity and concerns about security or maintenance are given as reasons, while property websites and conversations with neighbours are suggested as research methods. These ideas are relevant, and the example about checking renovation needs helps make the security and upkeep point more concrete. However, some reasons are not fully explained: the reference to previous owners’ relationships with neighbours, for instance, is mentioned without showing why residents would want to know this. The research discussion is also less developed than the reasons, since the websites are not described in detail and no other sources, such as local archives or land records, are considered. Explain how each method provides reliable information and extend the less-developed ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, a paragraph on research methods, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “Firstly” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the answer. However, the progression within the reasons paragraph is sometimes difficult to follow because curiosity, security, maintenance, and neighbours are introduced in quick succession without clear links. “On one hand” also suggests a contrast that is not developed, and “However” does not clearly connect the two main parts. Some references, such as “it” in the sentence about websites, are unclear. Group related points more deliberately and use linking phrases to show how each idea connects to the question.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “previous owners,” “renovations,” “maintenance,” and “property.” There are also attempts to use more formal expressions, such as “increasing number of individuals” and “in search of.” However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, including “discovering out,” “property’ security,” “finding about the history,” and “what costs would be required.” These choices sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the intended meaning. Spelling and word-form choices such as “weather” for “whether” also reduce accuracy. Build a more reliable range of natural phrases for discussing property history, safety, upkeep, and sources of information.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “People can directly contact…” and a conditional question about renovation measures. The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “individuals has” instead of “individuals have,” “activities took place” instead of “activities that took place,” and “as is it secure to live or not,” where the clause structure is faulty. Articles and possessives also need attention, as in “history of house” and “house’ old owner.” Aim for more accurate control of subject–verb agreement, relative clauses, and question structures before adding further complexity; careful proofreading would also help with sentence boundaries and punctuation.
